About

Gramya Education Trust aims at helping in education and skills to rural students who are enthusiastic about learning but find it difficult to meet financial needs for proper schooling and training.

We continue to identify such students of deprived families in rural areas. It provides monetary help to pay for school fees, school uniforms, and study materials. It aims to conduct regular screening of the educational progress of students.

Female students will be prioritised as they have been left motivated for better education. We also conduct orientation programmes to make students familiar with future career options.

Health and environment awareness are additional areas where we make an effort to make the rural population conscious of regular check-ups and medication. It aims to cover senior rural residents by conducting health camps by voluntary guidance of qualified medical professionals.

What We Have Done

Medical Camp 2016

During 2016, our managing trustee conducted a health check-up camp in Etauwa (Gorakhpur) which being our first activity was a great success. This was managed and conducted by a highly experienced medical expert. More than 60 people attended at very short notice to receive advice on healthcare and medication. They were highly enthusiastic and very open in expressing their physical problems and this proved highly useful to explaining treatments and precautions in the future. We are bound to return with more medical professionals for a longer duration so we can help even more people.

Understanding the Households and Schools 2017

In 2017 we conducted a survey targeting households in Etauwa to identify problems and difficulties in educating children. An index of schools around Etauwa was prepared. Our managing trustee and her team visited these schools to learn and understand the problems in rural education. The school facilities were also audited to confirm that they are suitable for a reasonable and normal education.

Our First Few Applicants

Following the visit to households and schools we invited a few children who belonged to the lower income bracket, and face problems in paying school fees, and purchasing school materials. 10 students from grade 3 to 10 and one student under industrial training (ITI) were selected for financial help for the year 2017. Golu (picture above) is in grade 3 and is one of our first students
